How You Can Help

The Homeless Alliance has a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. To find out more about the latest needs, visit the United Way of Central Oklahoma’s Volunteer Center website.

Welcome Home Baskets
A laundry basket or hamper filled with household items. Typically when we place a family in housing they don’t have anything but their clothing. Items needed: cleaning supplies (disinfectant, mop, broom, dust pan, dish soap, etc.), dishes, pots, pans, pot holder, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, shower curtain, can opener, phone, laundry soap, etc… You can be as simple or creative as you wish. Day Shelter Donation Needs
The Day Shelter provides services to an average of 275 guests per day. Services include breakfast and lunch, showers, telephones and computers. In addition, guests at the Day Shelter have access to a variety of services from community agencies to assist guests with ending their homelessness. For example: mental health and substance abuse treatment, primary healthcare, veterans services, budget support, case management, job training and placement. The Day Shelter also offers a dog kennel. You can help support the Day Shelter by donating an item off of our wish list. Click here to see a full list of needs.

Gas Gift Certificates or 30-Day Bus Passes
Transportation is huge barrier for the families we work with. Families have very little or zero income and just getting to doctors appointments, mental health appointments, job interviews, and work can be a challenge.

Art Supplies
The Homeless Alliance and City Care offer the “fresh stART” art program to provide people experiencing homelessness in Oklahoma City with a supportive environment for creating art. In addition to providing a potential source of income, open studio art programs enable people experiencing homelessness to express themselves creatively, manage emotional issues, develop social skills through positive interaction with a peer group, develop confidence and skills transferable to employment. Fresh stART is in need of art supplies of all kinds including: paint, canvas, sketch pads, water color paper, mat board, paper towels, etc. For more information, contact:

Curbside Chronicle employment cards
Download, print, and keep these cards in your car to distribute to individuals who could use a hand. Cut along the black line and fold so that there is a red and a blue side to each card. Help us employ and empower people in Oklahoma City who are homeless.
